Leadership Matters - Graduation

As the school year comes to an end, there is one group of students trying to find the happy medium between the euphoric feeling of having completed their formative school years and the often hopeful anxiety, or sometimes puzzling angst, of imagining where their next steps will take them. Guest Teacher of the Winter Season - Mary Vonk

TCSD asked our teachers and staff to nominate a guest teacher who they felt deserved the recognition of "Guest Teacher of the Season."
Mary Vonk was selected and is being recognized for her exceptional dedication, positive attitude and outstanding work ethic serving the students and staff of TCSD.

Leadership Matters - Volunteers Are Essential

In the Merriam-Webster dictionary, volunteer is defined both as a noun and a verb. As a noun, a volunteer is “a person who voluntarily undertakes or expresses a willingness to undertake a service.” As a verb, volunteer can be, “to offer or bestow voluntarily.” As we celebrate National Volunteer Week from April 7-13, I’d like to offer my thanks to the many wonderful people who volunteer in our local schools throughout the year.

Leadership Matters- The Importance of Reading

On March 2nd, school-aged children across the nation kicked-off National Reading Month by celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Although the children’s author wrote more than 60 books using the pen name, Dr. Seuss, his real name was Theodore Seuss Geisel. His books have proved invaluable to early readers by teaching rhyming, sight words, and nonsense words.

You Have a Voice in Policy Making

One of the responsibilities of the Tooele County School District Board of Education is to review and vote on policies proposed for district-wide implementation. Policies cover a range of topics from safety and accountability measures to community relations. Policies are designed to meet the educational and safety needs of students, as well as, outline the expectations of staff members.

Leadership Matters- Team Building

As a former state championship basketball coach, I have always appreciated the power of team building. I have never forgotten the importance of building and maintaining “team spirit” and have applied that principle to working with school staff.
