Mask mandate still in place for schools

A bill approved by Utah lawmakers during the 2021 legislative session ends the state’s mask mandate starting April 10. Although the state of Utah will lift the statewide mask mandate, schools in the state are exempt from the legislation.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said that, in line with the most recent Utah Department of Health order, “the mask mandate will continue after April 10 in schools and for large gatherings.”

Tooele County School District will continue to follow all previously established health guidelines. (Utah's COVID-19 School Manual)

All students, faculty and staff are required to wear face masks while at school.  Frequent handwashing and use of hand sanitizer is encouraged. Enhanced cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing will continue to occur daily in each of our buildings.

Families, please monitor your student(s) for symptoms of COVID-19. Children with symptoms of COVID-19 must be kept home and should not board a TCSD school bus, attend school, athletics, or extracurricular activities.

Test-to-Play is still in place for high school extra curricular activities. Test-to-Stay will continue to be used in schools with high counts of positive COVID-19 cases. In addition, UHSAA sanctioned activities will follow guidelines established through UHSAA. (UHSAA Guidelines)

Thank you for your patience and cooperation this year as we navigate an ever-changing environment during this health pandemic.
